Science experiment of explosive bombs

Kids Science Experiment of harmless Explosive Bombs to explore science and chemistry in a more fun way.

What will you need:

  • Gloves
  • Protective Goggles
  • Plastic Spatula
  • Small Measuring Cup
  • Sodium Bicarbonate
  • Colouring
  • Large Measuring Cup
  • Pasteur Pipette
  • Citric Acid
  • Table Salt
  • Coffee Spoon
  • Bowl
  • Water

Step by Step:

  1. Measure 5 ml of citric acid with the small measuring cup. Now, transfer it into the large measuring cup.
  2. Add 5 drops of colouring (of your choice) with Pasteur pipette.
  3. Add a coffee spoon of table salt to the measuring cup and mix well with plastic spatula.
  4. Measure 5 ml of sodium bicarbonate with the small measuring cup. Now add it to the large measuring cup and stir with the plastic spatula.
  5. The mixture of your explosive bomb must be dry but slightly sticky. If it is too dry add some droplets of water with the Pasteur pipette.
  6. Wet your hands and collect small amounts of the mixture to create little balls with your hands. Create two little balls and place them in a bowl, with some space in between them, so that they don’t get stuck to each other.
  7. Let them dry overnight.
  8. When dry, test your explosive bombs by putting them in water.
